Pink Bohemian Earrings, Jacquard Silk, Tribal Style

Pink Bohemian Earrings, Jacquard Silk, Tribal Style

Hot pink and orange bohemian earrings with brass dangles.

I love silk fabric - the texture and shine and intense colors. This gorgeous jacquard silk features a floral pattern in neon pink and hot orange. I covered two acrylic buttons in this fantastic fabric to create one of a kind cabochons that form the focus of these unique art to wear earrings. I then created a beaded bezel using peyote stitch out of glistening pink and gold beads with a hint of purple along the edges. I mounted brass loops on the back of the bead embroidery and then finished the back off with burgundy ultrasuede. Textured brass discs hang from the brass loops at the bottom to create a fringed effect, and them the entire earring was hung from brass lever back hooks with a fleur-de-lis motif. Due to the materials used in these earrings, they are actually reasonably light weight despite their size!

Dimensions: The main circular part of the earrings is 1.0625 inches (2.7 cm) in diameter. The overall length of the earrings from the top of the lever back to the bottom of the brass dangles is 2.125 inches (5.4 cm)

Cyclops Heart Necklace, Embroidery on Felt, Day of the Dead Inspired

Cyclops Heart Necklace, Embroidery on Felt, Day of the Dead Inspired

Embroidered Heart Necklace with a twist - a lifelike cyclops eye greets you from the center of this folk art inspired embroidered pendant!

I embroidered the Day of the Dead inspired design in cotton on a plump turquoise wool felt heart and added an acrylic doll eye with felt eye lids. I then added a layer of stiff fabric interfacing and backed the pendant with burgundy ultrasuede. The entire shape is edged with tiny seed beads using brick stitch and a woven ropelike edging in tiny teal, red and multicolored accent beads. Two loops of vintaj brass wire were embedded in the pendant and two lengths of vintaj brass chain with a brass lobster claw closure were added.

Dimensions: The heart is 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) at its widest point, and 2 inches (5.1 cm) at its tallest point. Each length of chain is 9.5 inches (24 cm) long.
